Oct 12 Chara Meeting

Dear All,

We will have our Chara meeting on Oct 12 at Vine Campus at 2 pm. Please note this new start time for our meeting (moved from 4 pm previously to 2 pm). We are very pleased to have Dr. Philip Siu to join us on that day and give us a seminar on Christian parenting (particularly how to develop Christian character in our kids and how to discipline them effectively). If you have any parenting questions that you would like Dr. Siu to address at the seminar, you can forward them to me before the meeting.

I am sure this topic is of great interest to most of us. Please save this date and come join us for a great fellowship together.

HK Artists Evangelistic Meeting

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Please be reminded that for the coming Chara Meeting we will join the HK Artists Evangelistic Meeting. Though admission is free, tickets are required for that meeting. If you plan on bringing your friends and families to either one of the sessions, please obtain tickets in advance as seats are limited. Tickets will be distributed to the church members this Sunday between 12:45-2:00 outside the sanctuary. Each person can get 5 tickets max.

After this Sunday, tickets will be available to the public (each person can get 2 tickets max) on a first-come-first-serve basis during the following time:

8/31(Sun) & 9/7 (Sun) 12:45-2:00 outside church at red door (outside library)
9/8 (Mon) to 9/12 (Fri) 3:00-5:00 at church office

The last time the artists came and had such meeting it was about 8 years ago. Please plan ahead and pray for this event.

Chara Spring Activity - Bowling

Chara Fellowship is going to hold a bowling event to celebrate the arrival of spring! Below are the details:

Time: 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Place: Playdrome Cherry Hill (http://www.playdromebowl.com/cherry_hill.htm#)
Address: 1536 North Kings Hwy, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

Playdrome Cherry Hill is a smoke free entertainment center with complimentary WiFi. Bumper lane is available for kids to have fun with the adults. I encourage you to visit their website for further details.

On that day, participants are free to arrange for their own lunch plan after Sunday service. I will bring afternoon snacks (e.g. egg tart) and drinks for the group to enjoy during the activity. Please reply by Mar 28 (Fri) if you plan to attend so that I could have a head count for better planning. I look forward to seeing you all there!

2/10 Chara Meeting

Dear All,

We will meet at 3pm at the Spring Campus this coming Sunday (2/10/08) for the guys vs gals cooking contest. Each group will be given the same food ingredients and then each group would have to be creative and make delicious dishes out of the same ingredients. After that, we will enjoy a wonderful dinner together to celebrate the year of the Mouse.

Please do not miss this fun-filled event and come join us this Sunday.

Chara Dec Meeting

Dear All,

Chara fellowship will meet on 12/9. Please make every effort to be on time at 4:30 pm at Spring Campus since the seniors at On-Lok House are very punctual. Here is the timeline for this event:

Date of program: 12/9/07
2pm - food preparation lead by Andrew Lee - at Spring Campus
4:30pm - practice songs lead by Crystal - at Spring Campus
4:50pm - walk over to On Lok House together, bring cooked food to On
Lok, and distribute meals
5:15pm - dinner with On Lok Seniors - at On Lok House
6pm - program begins - songs, games, short message by Alexis
7pm - Chara kids will help distribute gifts to the seniors

John Zhao and On Lok Ministry team will arrive at On Lok House to set
up the tables and go door-to-door to invite the seniors to the
celebration.

We will need help with food preparation. If anyone is interested in helping with food preparation, please let Florence know. We will also need a head count for dinner by Friday 12/7, so please email me back with the number of people attending this event by Friday.

A separate reminder: If anyone is interested in attending the church wide Christmas Luncheon on 12/16, Florence will have the tickets with her on Sunday which is also the deadline.

See you all on Sunday and let's pray together that God will use this event to touch the hearts of the seniors at On-Lok house.

Chara Meeting (11/11/07)

Dear All,

We will meet this Sunday at 4pm at church to have bible study together. Please come and enjoy the fellowship with each other. Also, we will be collecting shoeboxes for the Christmas Shoebox Project like we did last year. Pack some Christmas spirit into a shoebox by filling it with toys, games and books for the needy children and bring it with you on 11/11/07.

I believe we will have dinner together at church after the meeting.

Parenting Workshop 5/20

Parenting Workshop 5/20, 4-6pm
We have invited Dr. Philip Siu to conduct a workshop on parenting for children 5-9 years old. Dr. Siu is a board-certified pediatrician, is well-known in the Asian community, and is also a member of Chinese Christian Church and Center. Currently, Dr. Siu is the medical director of Chinatown Medical Service, a non-profit Community Health Center for providing comprehensive primary care (Family Medicine and Pediatrics) to immigrant Chinese families.

Dr. Siu was listed as one of the "Top Docs for Kids" by the Philadelphia Magazine in 2001. He has special interest in behavioral pediatrics as well as immigrant and adoption health care and has spoken often in areas of parenting, immigrant healthcare, both within and outside of the Chinese community.

If you have any questions regarding parenting children of 5-9 years old. Please send the questions to Pastor Alexis Yu, ay_cccc@yahoo.com, so he can forward the questions to Dr. Siu beforehand.

Due to the Mother Day on 5/13, our May's meeting is changed to 5/20, not on our regular 2nd Sunday. Please take note.
